Colleen Coble is coming to Heaven Help Us: Posted 9/14/2009 8:15:56 AM
October 17th from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 Colleen Coble, award winning author, will be at Heaven Help Us. Colleen is one of my favorite authors. Her style of writing draws me into the story within the first few pages. There is always an inspirational message in her books. It is easy to see why she has won or been a finalist for awards in the Christian industry for her mystery/suspense romantic fiction. She writes romantic mysteries because she loves to see justice prevail and love begin with a happy ending. Don''t we all like to see that? Who doesn''t like to see justice prevail and finally, a love story with a happy ending. I know, I do.

If you haven''t read any of her books, now is a great time. Colleen has something for everyone. Really! Do you want to read something set in Indiana? How about an Amish story? What about a Western? Alaska? She has won the best overall contemporary fiction book award. Her book Cry in the Night has been on the Christian Booksellers Association Bestseller list for months; Anathema, her Amish book set in Indiana, just won the Best Books of Indiana Fiction Award and is also a finalist for the American Christian Fiction Writers Suspense Book of the Year; Lonestar Sanctuary won the Booksellers Best Award and it is also a finalist for the American Christian Fiction Writers Suspense Book of the Year.

There will be refreshments, door prizes, and many sales that day. Don''t miss your chance to meet and talk with an author that is a favorite. You are in for a treat on October 17th. Don''t miss the fun at Heaven Help Us. Call Heaven Help Us at 812-949-7509 for more details.

We are Hopping at Heaven Help Us: Posted 7/25/2009 10:33:57 AM
Things are really hopping at Heaven Help Us and God has been blessing us in many ways. There is just so much going on that the days are flying by!

Recently a missionary from Haiti came in the store and brought some products that were made there by local people to support their mission. The missionary, Alix, was filled with the love of Christ Jesus and it was such a pleasure to speak with him and hear his stories of starting an orphanage and medical clinic. The stories he told of the people being saved and baptized actually brought tears to my eyes they were so moving. He left products for us to sell (the Fair Trade program) for him and money raised will go to support his mission there. You should come into the store and look at the handmade baskets, purses, and placemats that we have in the front window display. There are leather bracelets, keyrings, and cases that can be used for laptops or purses, too. We have included pictures and information that Alix left along side the products so that you can see who and where the money that is raised will be helping.

We are excited to welcome Wanda Brunstetter, best selling author, to our store on Friday, September 4th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. She will be signing her newest release, A Cousin''s Prayer, second book in the Indiana Cousins series, along with any of her other books. Wanda has written Amish fiction books for adults and children as well as Amish cookbooks and devotions. She is one of our top selling fiction writers for both adults and kids. That day we will have refreshments, door prizes, and a bunch of sales too.

Before Wanda comes, you can meet local author, Al Rudolph, on Saturday Aug. 1st from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the store. Al is the author of "Tougher Than Woodpecker Lips", a collection of inspirational stories and thoughts set in Indiana. Readers that have bought his book have said it is very good and would highly recommend it. We will have lots of sale items and you can sign up for door prizes that day.

Wow, this is really exciting for us. We are now a Discount Ticket Outlet for the Creation Museum! Tickets are available at our store. When you purchase your tickets here, you will save time and money. Just walk right up to the entrance and give them your tickets. No standing in line to buy tickets at the Museum! Who wants to stand in line or pay more money?!!

As if that isn''t enough going on, we have decided to start our Bookclub - "Heaven Help Us Read This Book". We have one for adults and one for kids that will meet in August and the books we will be discussing will be Wanda Brunstetter''s. After we read and discuss her books, then we will be able to meet and talk to the author in person! How great is that?!!

Like I said, God has been blessing us in so many ways. We are making new friends as new customers are finding our store. Thank each and every one of you for your purchases and support of our store. We appreciate your support and friendship. May our gracious God continue to bless each of you, too.

Summer Reading: Posted 6/28/2009 4:19:45 PM
Summer has made its debut here in the Midwest with sweltering temps. It is the perfect time to grab a book and head for the water, whether that be the pool, beach, or even a sprinkler beside your chair. Anything will work to keep the heat down. To help you enjoy relaxing in the water or wherever you can find a cool spot, we have dedicated one bookcase in our store to some great take me away fiction titles. Waitthe best part is that we have discounted those books so that each title is just 5.00. How great is that?!!! Just 5.00!!! These books are from some of your favorite (or soon to be favorite) authors, too. With the cost being minimal, some customers have told us that they will pack a few of these must reads in their suitcases when they go on vacation or a mission trip. After the book gets read, it gets left behind so that it will bless someone else. You never know when something as simple as that will make a big impact on another life. One customer even included a note in her books requesting that the next reader keep passing the books on so that other people will read them. Another customer said that he has asked if his book is read that it would then be donated to a youth center or church library. How about helping to brighten someones day by leaving a book for them to read? A book with an inspirational message that just might be the one thing they needed to hear that day to change their lives. Not bad for a 5.00 investment.

Stop in and check out our titles. We have books for all ages and genres, and sometimes there are even some dvds and cds there, too. If you need a recommendation, just ask one of our staff members. Every one of them has a favorite or two and will be happy to tell you about it. After you read some of them, we would love to hear from you. Let us know which ones you really liked or if you passed your book on to someone, share that with us, too. Let us know if these books have vacation stories of their own!!! Have a blessed summer and keep on reading!

Happy Mothers Day, Proverbs 31 Woman : Posted 4/18/2009 10:14:54 AM
Easter has passed by in a flurry of flowers, baskets, candy, songs, and crosses. I hope it was a memorable one for each of you. The service at our church was especially touching this year and we left with tears in our eyes, hearts full of joy and spirits renewed.

Now at Heaven Help Us we are preparing for Mothers Day. We are gathering gifts and cards for all of those remarkable women that have touched the lives of children, young and old. There will be gifts for mothers, stepmothers, godmothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, daughters, friends, and special women that have made a difference in your life.

I am amazed when I hear stories of all of the wonderful women and mothers. There are some really fantastic ones, too! It is so funny to hear someone say something about having the best mother in the world because I happen to know that my mother holds that honor (she is truly a Proverbs 31 woman a real jewel).

When I was a little girl, I can remember going with my mother to take dinner to an elderly lady. Mom would take the hot meal in to the lady and we would visit with her. As she would eat and tell us stories I can still see Mom discretely getting up and cleaning in the ladys cluttered, neglected house while we chatted. By the time dinner was over the house looked more like a home. Sometimes the lady would notice and be so thankful she could not even speak, while other times she would still be rambling on as we got our coats on and left. It didn''t matter to Mom if she got a thank you. She does things without thought of reward or her own benefit. She just wants to help. There were many others that she helped, too, and we did not have much to share. I know there were a lot of times our mother did without so that my sister and I could have something or go on some school trip somewhere. Mom is generous, loving, and kind, and she has the softest hands even though they were and still are very hardworking hands. I love my Mom and I love to hold her hand.

Do you have a story about a special Proverbs 31 woman in your life? Send it in to us and share it with our readers.

Mothers Day is May 10th. Remember your special Proverbs 31 woman.
